Metabolic Monday

Happy Monday! I hope you had a fabulous weekend and a Happy St. Patrick’s Day. The weather was amazing here in Annapolis and it was great to be outside in the sunshine!

This beautiful weather is the perfect reason to get out of the gym and change your workout and challenge yourself in a new way. I am a big fan of metabolic training instead of steady state cardio workouts such as running on the treadmill or elliptical. There are many awesome benefits of High Intensity Interval(HIIT) Training including increased metabolic rate during and after the workout, improved cardiovascular capacity, and serious calorie burn.

Here is a great metabolic exercise to mix into your workout. Try 30 seconds of movement followed by 30 secs to a minute of rest for 4 rounds.

Exercise 1- Mountain climbers

Exercise 2- Renegade Rows

Exercise 3- Star Jumps

Exercise 4- Punches with dumbbells
